Position Overview
The Advanced Robotics & Mission Systems division (AR&MS) of QinetiQ, is seeking an experienced EHS Specialist with a passion for promoting workplace safety and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
In this role, you will collaborate across departments to enhance the division’s environment, health, and safety (EHS) performance.
Responsibilities
- Provide proactive support to safety and ergonomic programs, ensuring the health and safety of employees both on-site and remotely.
- Develop and implement new procedures, conduct inspections, and provide necessary training and reporting to ensure compliance and improve safety outcomes.
- Collaborate with factory stakeholders to ensure production and operational changes mitigate risks to health, safety, and the environment.
- Conduct audits and inspections, document findings, and track corrective actions to closure.
- Analyze incident trends and use risk assessments to identify and lead continuous improvement projects to minimize injury, illness, and environmental impact.
- Facilitate incident investigations using a Learning Teams approach to address systemic causes and prevent recurrence.
- Participate in pre-job planning to verify that safety controls are in place for new, high-risk, or non-standard work.
- Maintain facility chemical inventories and safety data sheets (SDS).
- Utilize lean tools such as waste reduction and problem-solving to improve processes.
- Assist in creating and delivering presentations and training sessions.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional improvement projects.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations concerning environmental health and safety.
- Limited travel for company seminars, audits, and training sessions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as an EHS professional, ideally in manufacturing, oil & gas, construction, or similar industries.
- Experience in developing and supporting EHS programs, providing training, and managing change to reduce risk and improve safety outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of hazard analysis, OSHA compliance, incident investigation, and corrective action management.
- Familiarity with industrial hygiene, ergonomics, machine safety, and environmental compliance.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
- Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement certification preferred.
