About The Position
Job Title : Registered Nurse Job Specialty : Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Job Duration : 8 Weeks Shift : 12-Hour Night Shifts Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week Experience : Minimum 2 years clinical experience, with 2 years in ICU specialty License : California RN License Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), NIH Stroke Scale Must-Have : Experience in a Medical Surgical ICU setting, familiarity with EPIC, and prior travel experience preferred Job Description : - Provide high-quality care to patients in a Medical Surgical ICU, dealing with conditions such as sepsis, respiratory failure, congestive heart failure, pulmonary edema, and post-operative thoracic / vascular surgery.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to monitor, assess, and treat ICU patients, ensuring adherence to hospital-acquired infection prevention protocols including CAUTI, CLABSI, and VAP bundles.
- Utilize specialized equipment such as Phillips monitors, Servo-I ventilators, and Hospira Smart Pumps for patient care.
- Maintain a safe and professional working environment, adhering to the dress code and professional appearance standards.
- Participate in a 4-day hospital orientation and undergo 2 additional shifts on the unit.- Engage in patient care modalities with a focus on providing primary care, while managing ventilators in collaboration with respiratory therapists.
- Flexibility required for floating to Trauma ICU, Neuro ICU, or Progressive Care units; travelers float first.- Comply with holiday requirements, being available for 2 out of 3 major winter and summer holidays.
- Demonstrate efficient documentation skills using the EPIC system and utilize Pyxis for medication management.- Support 24 / 7 access to respiratory and anesthesia teams for patient care needs.
