Job Summary :
The University of Colorado Department of Anesthesiology, Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology has an opening for a full-time Pediatric Anesthesiologist at the faculty rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor.
The chief responsibility of the department is to assure the best possible outcomes for our patients having surgical operations, painful invasive and diagnostic procedures.
The primary clinical sites for this position are the Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) hospitals located in the Denver Metro region.
This premier hospital system, which has been highly ranked among pediatric hospitals for almost two decades, is a 600-bed tertiary care system, located along the front range of the Rocky Mountains.
The flagship hospital is on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado with a level IV NICU and Level 1 pediatric trauma capabilities.
Key Responsibilities :
The attending pediatric anesthesiologist administers care alone or supervises physicians-in-training (residents), certified registered nurse anesthetists and certified anesthesiologist assistants.
When working alone, he / she examines the patient before and after anesthesia, writes pre and post anesthesia orders, confirms that the patient is ready for anesthesia before induction, manages the anesthetic period, and follows patient as long as is appropriate in the post anesthesia period.
The position is full-time and will be assigned clinical duties in the Children's Hospital Colorado system.
The candidate must have a strong working and theoretical knowledge of Anesthesiology and Peri-operative Medicine as well as experience in teaching Anesthesiology.
To be considered for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, the candidate will have completed ACGME fellowship training in clinical pediatric anesthesiology.
As an attending pediatric anesthesiologist, the candidate may be required to perform these services in the operating room, radiology, and in the outpatient procedure center.
As faculty members of the School of Medicine, candidates are also expected to contribute to the teaching needs of the Department and the School.
This may include, but is not limited to preparing and delivering lectures, serving as a preceptor, and providing one-on-one instruction.
Attending anesthesiologists, as faculty members, are also expected to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the specialty by way of clinical or laboratory research.
Work Location : Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below :
Assistant Professor :
- Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Colorado.
- All are expected to be either in the examination process of the American Board of Anesthesiologists ("board eligible") or a Diplomat of the Board, or to be holding certification of foreign training that is recognized as equivalent to its diploma by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
Associate Professor :
- Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Colorado.
- All are expected to be either in the examination process of the American Board of Anesthesiologists ("board eligible") or a Diplomat of the Board, or to be holding certification of foreign training that is recognized as equivalent to its diploma by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
- To be hired at the rank of Associate Professor, must meet the SOM's requirements for that rank.
Professor :
- Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Colorado.
- All are expected to be either in the examination process of the American Board of Anesthesiologists ("board eligible") or a Diplomat of the Board, or to be holding certification of foreign training that is recognized as equivalent to its diploma by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
- To be hired at the rank of Professor, must meet the SOM's requirements for that rank.
Preferred Qualifications :
Board certification in pediatric anesthesiology is highly desirable and expected within 2 years of employment.

Anticipated Pay Range : The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as :
Assistant Professor - $335,000 - $360,000
Associate Professor - $385,000
Professor - $410,000
Variable compensation paid separately
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
