Overview
The Technology Adoption Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, including legal departments, IT, training, business development, and industry groups to define and execute strategies that maximize the value of our software investments and ensure that firm attorneys and staff are able to leverage technology to work more effectively and efficiently.
This person will be responsible for developing and implementing adoption plans, monitoring key performance indicators, and driving continuous improvement.
This role will also be involved in creating and executing change management plans in conjunction with the IT Project Management Office (PMO) to facilitate seamless transitions and minimize disruptions while introducing new software to the organization.
The Technology Adoption Manager will also conduct financial analyses to determine the percentage of adoption compared to objective and ROI of the software.

Responsibilities
Initially, the role will work in tandem with the PMO as to the top few priority applications of which adoption progress is essential.
They will collaboratively develop a short-term plan to enhance adoption of those prioritized applications, with significant assistance from other teams.
Subsequently, the functions below will be performed as the role matures : Conduct research and analysis to identify gaps in software adoption and usage, and work to understand, address, and mitigate these gaps.
Coordinate with the Practice Innovation Office on relevant technology and other projects and periodically brief the PIO on adoption trends and ROI.
Create and implement change management plans to facilitate the introduction of new software to the organization including assessing the impact of the changes, identifying potential risks and obstacles, and developing strategies to mitigate them.
This will be performed collaboratively with the IT PMO as appropriate.Create and monitor key adoption metrics and leverage data to identify opportunities for enhancement and report the progress made.
Work with legal departments and industry teams to understand their software needs and develop customized training and support materials that address their specific requirements.
This will be performed collaboratively with the HR Training group as appropriate.Build and maintain strong relationships with software vendors of implemented solutions, and work with them to ensure that their products are meeting the firm's needs and are being used effectively.
Communicate adoption goals, progress, and results to stakeholders across the firm. This may involve the commissioning of dashboards, software usage metering, and other executive reporting tools.
Develop and manage budgets and resources for adoption programs; calculate ROI for software adoption programs by tracking the costs associated with software adoption, such as training and licensing fees, and comparing them with the benefits realized, such as increased productivity and efficiency.
Initially, this PM position is intended to personally execute this function, as opposed to delegating actions to others.
Stay up-to-date on industry trends and emerging technologies related to software adoption and user experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business, or, JD with any undergraduate degree.
- At least 3 years of experience in product management, user adoption, or a related role with a focus on adoption of software applications in a professional services or corporate environment.
- Strong technical background and understanding of software development processes and methodologies.
- Proven track record of driving software adoption and usage in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
- Ability to confidently lead, communicate and influence at all levels of the business.
- Prefer familiarity with the typical software applications used throughout an AmLaw 50 firm.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to build consensus among cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with legal software applications such as document management systems and practice management systems.
- Knowledge of industry-standard user adoption tools and methodologies.
