Our client is a cutting-edge tech startup dedicated to developing open-source security protocols to protect decentralized applications (DApps) on Layer 2 networks.
Their mission is to actively prevent hacks at the network level through robust security solutions. The team is currently working on two key products : Phylax Monitor, an upcoming open-source tool, and Credible Layer, their core security offering.
This small, passionate team of 10 engineers is on a mission to tackle one of Web3’s biggest challenges securing decentralized technology from hacks, driven by personal experience with a devastating breach.
Job Overview :
Our client is seeking a Staff-Level Rust Engineer to lead the implementation of the offchain component of their innovative Hack Prevention Protocol for EVM chains.
This role involves developing a low-latency system for real-time EVM transaction validation, ensuring every transaction meets strict rules within milliseconds.
As part of the Credible Layer product, you’ll work closely with cryptography and security experts to design secure, scalable, and performant systems that actively prevent hacks.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, startup environment and has a passion for building secure, high-performance protocols.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead the architecture and development of the offchain component for the Hack Prevention Protocol.
- Collaborate with external Layer 2 teams to integrate with APIs and ensure seamless operation within their infrastructure (e.g., sequencers).
- Develop low-latency EVM simulations, validating transactions in real-time (within milliseconds).
- Treat the system as critical infrastructure, prioritizing security and performance to protect decentralized applications from hacks.
- Contribute to the design, review, and optimization of security protocols and systems to ensure scalability and robustness.
- Drive innovation by researching and experimenting with new tools and technologies in the Rust ecosystem to enhance security solutions.
Requirements :
- Extensive experience in software development with Rust.
- Expertise in building high-performance, low-latency systems.
- Solid experience in protocol design and understanding of how protocols work at a high level.
- Proficiency in optimizing performance related to databases and networking.
- Ability to collaborate with external teams for integration with Layer 2 APIs and systems.
- Experience with open-source contributions and active engagement with the Rust or broader open-source community.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Why Join the Team :
- Be part of the founding team of a fast-growing security startup.
- Opportunity to work on one of the most complex and critical topics in Web3.
- Take ownership of your project and build from the ground up.
- Be part of a company making an impactful contribution to the future of decentralized technology.
- A team that embraces a fun and creative culture (even some good-natured shitposting).
What’s on Offer :
- Flexible PTO
- Health Insurance
- Attendance at major industry conferences and events
- Remote-first culture with a hub in NYC
- New MacBook provided
Compensation & Equity :
- Salary : $160K $230K (based on experience)
- Equity : 0.3% 0.6%
