Job Description
Leadership & Supervision :
- Supervise and manage nursing staff in the Labor & Delivery unit, ensuring that all patient care is provided according to hospital policies, procedures, and standards.
- Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, professional growth, and patient-centered care.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and feedback to nursing staff, and conduct performance evaluations.
Patient Care Management :
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care to all patients in the Labor & Delivery unit.
- Monitor patient care to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Address patient care issues and concerns promptly, providing resolutions that prioritize patient safety and satisfaction.
Operational Management :
- Oversee daily operations of the Labor & Delivery unit, including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Manage departmental budgets and expenses, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate patient care and optimize resources utilization.
Quality Improvement & Compliance :
- Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and hospital standards.Participate in risk management activities and develop strategies to
- minimize risks to patients and staff.
Education & Staff Development :
- Identify educational needs of staff and coordinate ongoing training and development programs.
- Promote continuous learning and professional development opportunities for the nursing team.
- Keep current with developments in nursing and obstetric care, integrating evidence-based practices into the unit.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience in Labor & Delivery.
- Previous leadership or management experience in a hospital setting is preferred
- Current RN license in the state of Georgia.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
- Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other healthcare technology.
