Work you’ll do
As an HR Payroll Technician for our federal sector client, you will :
- Perform data entry into the agency’s Human Resources Management and Information System (HRMIS), utilize HRMIS worklist to perform actions related to employee hires, rehires, transfers and terminations to include federal, state, local tax forms, direct deposit forms, allotment forms, and other payroll deductions and taxable or non-taxable benefit adjustments
- Record hours worked for hourly employees and enter leave without pay (LWOP) hours as requested by HR customers
- Review pay period queries to verify all employees in supported circuits are properly paid and set up for the proper state or local tax withholding as necessary
- Review employees regular hours, military hours, LWOP hours, retroactive pay, and deduction adjustments for each pay period
- Prepare and submit assigned state / local tax deposits, coupons, returns and reconciliation in accordance with the requirements of the state / local taxing authority
- Prepare and complete assigned state tax returns and updates state reconciliation spreadsheets
- Respond to customer inquiries and to written employment verification request
- Perform administrative and clerical duties including responding to customer inquiries via phone or email, maintaining files, reviewing, sorting, and scanning mail and distribute it properly and timely
- Assist with special projects or tasks as assigned

Qualifications
Required :
- 2 years of experience with HR operations and financial services related to payroll, personnel action processing, and executive services
- Experience with providing Human Resource support services to a federal sector client
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the required Public Trust clearance for this role
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
This position is for our Washington, D.C. office. We operate in a hybrid work environment, and Deloitte professionals are expected to collocate in the office or client sites up to 50% of the time (2-3 days per week).
