Position Description :

Assigned to Mixing Center guard shack, the Gate Keeper facilitates all inbound and outbound traffic entering or exiting the shipping yard.

Verifies and closely updates all inbound and outbound traffic logs to ensure accurate reporting of all container, trailer, and seal ID number information.

Monitors all incoming carriers, vendors, and maintenance vehicles to review and authorize entrances. Communicates with dispatcher on a regular basis to inform of all incoming trailers to ensure accurate trailer pool.

Tracks arrival and departure of daily Hub & Spoke trailers to ensure on time performance. Notifies Management of any delayed arrivals / departures immediately.

Responsible for adhering to all company policies and department procedures and reporting any non-compliance by team members to operations manager / supervisor.

Performs other duties as needed.

Primary Responsibilities :

• Verifies and closely updates all inbound and outbound traffic logs to ensure accurate reporting of all container, trailer, and seal ID number information.
• Monitors all incoming carriers, vendors, and maintenance vehicles to review and authorize entrance into the Mixing Center secured area;

assigns drop slots accordingly.

• Utilizes radio communications to inform Management, administrative staff, yard jockey, and dispatcher of all visitors entering and / or exiting the Mixing Center's security area.
• Receives and holds all FedEx and UPS packages that are delivered at the guard shack for proper handling; reviews and signs all carrier acknowledgment forms and later forwards all paperwork to the inbound coordinator.
• Obtains copies of all truck driver drivers' licenses (DLs) on weekends or after hours who are picking up loaded trailers for delivery to designated Distribution Centers;

staples copies of the DL's to the appropriate bill lading form.

• Receives all remaining Bill Ladings forms from the dispatcher daily that have not been picked up by the carrier every afternoon to be monitored the following day as needed.
• Communicates with dispatcher on a regular basis to inform of all incoming trailers to ensure accurate trailer pool.
• Tracks arrival and departure of daily Hub & Spoke trailers to ensure on time performance; notifies Management of any delayed arrivals / departures immediately.
• Responsible for adhering to all company policies and safety procedures and reporting any non-compliance by team members to Supervisor / Manager.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the company, in its discretion, may find appropriate and acceptable.

Experience(s) that Best Prepares You :

• Education : High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
• Experience : Past experience in customer service, security preferred

Work environment : While performing the duties of this job, the associate is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
