The Staff Hardware Engineer is an integral member of the R&D Hardware team, the position will be responsible for the development, testing, and documentation of hardware for 400G / 600G optical components, modules, and subsystems.
You will participate and influence hardware architecture, software architecture, test methodology and strategy, design trade-offs, and product yield improvements and quality.
We seek people who are innovative, and results driven. You will design and test multilayer circuit boards for optical transport transceivers, tunable lasers, and subsystems, and possess demonstrated expertise in high-speed PCB design, schematic capture and layout, signal integrity, PCB fabrication and assembly, and hardware / firmware / optics integration and verification.
Qualifications
- A BSEE along with 10+ years of recent experience in complex multilayer board designs. A MS degree is preferred
- 5+ years of experience in optical transceivers / subsystems
- Analog design experience is a must; RF design experience is highly desired
- Demonstrated expertise and understanding of high speed, multilayer circuit boards design that include embedded processors, FPGA’s, SERDES, tunable lasers and COSA’s (Coherent Optical Sub Assembly)
- Prior experience with embedded subsystem board design, optical transceivers and subsystems targeted at 400G, and signal integrity
- Schematic capture tools such as Mentor Graphics’ PADS (preferred)
- Effective problem solver with strong lab and debugging skills using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, digital communication analyzers and BERT
- Strong English oral and written communication skills
- Familiarity with industry standard busses : RS232, I2C, SPI, Ethernet and high speed signaling ( differential signaling, PAM-4 operating at Gbaud) and GR-468 qualification
