Overview : The Glendale Unified School District is seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to join our team.
The ideal candidate will be committed to providing individualized instruction and support to students with special needs, ensuring they achieve their academic and personal goals.
This role requires collaboration with other educators, parents, and support staff to develop and implement effective individualized education programs (IEPs).
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each students specific needs.
- Provide direct instruction and support in inclusive classrooms and resource room settings.
- Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and disabilities.
- Monitor and assess student progress, making necessary adjustments to instructional methods based on data and individual performance.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, school psychologists, speech-language pathologists, and other professionals to support student success.
- Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and IEP goals.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation of student progress, IEPs, and other required records.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid Arizona teaching certificate in Special Education (K-12).
- Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal special education regulations.
- Experience with IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff.
- Experience working with students with a variety of disabilities is preferred.
Licensure and Certification Requirements :
- Arizona Department of Education (ADE) Special Education Certificate.
- Certification in Mild / Moderate Disabilities (K-12) or Severe / Profound Disabilities (K-12).
- Any additional certifications as required by the Arizona Department of Education (ADE).
Preferred Skills and Experience :
- Proficiency with assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
- Familiarity with behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and positive behavioral supports.
- Training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or other specialized instructional techniques.
