Job Summary :
Sysco is looking for a detail oriented Design Engineer (DE) of Facility Infrastructure Technology (FIT) to be responsible for contributing to the team of DE’s performing the following scopes related to our critical environments (CE).
- Design of the Sysco Technology systems this ranges from service provider DMARC and entrance facility; to MDF, IDF and Outdoor cabinets;
- to Data Center white space including service connectivity for connected devices including but not limited to : Generators, Site UPS, Cameras, Fire Alarm;
Network Services wired and wireless networks, and compute and storage solutions. The creation of wireless predicative surveys pre-construction using standard industry tools and Sysco Network Architecture definitions is the last design phase function of this role.
Oversee the contracted vendors performing (and perform yourself at times) rack, power, patch of all equipment in our critical environments;
installation of fiber and copper solutions at DC and OpSites; installation of WAP within a OpSite; and construction management during buildout of the critical environments to include proper size, location, electrical connections, and cooling capacity.
In addition you’ll be on the team that is global and supporting a fast-paced technology environment with regular MAC (move, add, change) work taking place.
You will perform hands-on as well as request and coordinate via vendor management remote hands / eyes to complete all MAC work.
Finally, you will be a critical portion of the Sysco CE monitoring and alerting system and functionality for all Sysco CE’s.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Subject matter expert for install, troubleshoot, repair, and lifecycle management of all environment monitoring devices, PDUs, UPSs, and other equipment within our critical environments.
Maintain accurate information in DCIM tool.
Coordinate, schedule, and document change control requirements related to activities.
Uphold all FIT standards, processes, and procedures while executing or requesting vendor execution of MAC work.
Work with remote hands and partner teams globally to affect the timely and correct repairs and / or installs of server hardware, network devices, and cross-connects to exchanges and counter-parties.
Develop and maintain cable schedules and material stock requirements with rack level elevations and patching methodologies.
Develop wireless access point (WLAN) predictive surveys for construction projects.
Inspect work being done by vendors and act as the bridge between the Network Services Team, Contractors performing the work, Facilities groups to seek to provide a technical infrastructure that the respective groups can support and maintain.
This includes acceptance testing and certification verification in accordance with the various systems and standards for each system being connected within a project.
Education Preferred :
Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent experience, with four to seven year’s previous telecommunication experience preferred
Experience Required :
3-5 years
Experience Preferred :
Previous global, multi site environment with 1,000+ CE’s and 20+ active projects required.
Licenses / Certification Preferred :
ICOR Critical Environments Engineer or Manager.
BICSI and / or Commscope Systimax certified.
Technical Skills and Abilities :
3+ years DC specific cabling design and implementation.
3+ years DC specific equipment installation.
3+ years of experience in the Data Center operations, and hardware lifecycle management.
Excellent vendor management and engagement expertise.
Working knowledge in IT infrastructure operations, configurations, tools, and service processes used within DC operations.
Working experience in Configuration Management over IT assets and components by maintaining information about the configuration items, including hardware documentation and data center facilities.
Experience in a diverse DC environments (>
10 sites).
Possess a high degree of professionalism, customer service, and dependable.
Ability to apply a comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of technical concepts, practices, and procedures.
Solid written and verbal communication.
Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills.
Ability to work in a remote capacity.
Ability to work in a team environment.
