Your Role at BSI
The Electrical Engineer applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
Work requires the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of specialized fields, related sciences, and / or disciplines.
May lead a number of small projects, sometimes coordinating the work of technical assistants and drafters.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree required, with specialization in the electrical discipline.
- EIT is preferred. May be working towards PE certification.
- 1+ years of previous design experience.
Responsibilities and Scope
- Prepares calculations and routine designs, specifications and / or reports for checking and reviewing by others.
- Directs designers and / or drafters assigned to the department or project.
- Coordinates work of his / her discipline with other disciplines.
- Serves as project lead on simple, single-discipline projects and simple multi-discipline projects.
- Coordinates all aspects of project document completion within the company and externally with clients and other design professionals.
- Performs field measurements with direction.
- Promotes the use of and participates in the development of company design and production standards.
- Performs construction observation of others on routine projects.
- Maintains neat and organized work area to allow efficient access to project information required by other team members.
- Assists with whatever duties are required to deliver a quality project on schedule and within budget.
Knowledge of applicable building codes and National Electrical Code is a plus.
Must keep current on the state of the art in their design specialty through review of periodicals and continuing education.
Proficient in the use of computer for design and understand CAD operations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, and the client.
- Integrity, sense of responsibility, independent judgment.
- Ability to delegate tasks and duties.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Proficient in the PC / windows environment with experience in e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
