Job Description

Under supervision, provides professional nursing care, within their designated acute care facility, as a Float Pool Nurse, to patients / clients in the following approved health care specialties within Acute Care : Emergency Department (Adults), Emergency Department (Pediatrics), Inpatient (Adults), Critical Care / Telemetry (Adults), Medical-Surgical (Adults).

Diagnoses and treats responses to actual or potential health problems by means of nursing methods and techniques, such as case-finding, health teaching, health counseling and provision of care supportive to and restorative of life and well-being, while ensuring optimal utilization of resources, service delivery, safe patient care, and compliance with all applicable local, state, federal and NYC Health + Hospitals rules and regulations and nursing standards of care.

• Identifies and discriminates between physical and psycho-social signs and symptoms. Selects and performs those therapeutic measures which are essential for effective execution of the nursing regimen for assigned patients / clients.
• Develops, implements and continuously evaluates the nursing regimen for assigned patients / clients.
• Records and maintains nursing care plans and progress notes on patients / clients to ensure continuity of care.
• Interprets and reports responses of patients / clients to appropriate members of the health team

Minimum Qualifications

Qualification Requirements :

• A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State; and
• One (1) year of clinical nursing experience in the specialty area in which assigned to float; and
• Holds or obtains a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Special Note : Advanced certifications may be required for specialty areas

Department Preferences

ACLS and BLS required for this specialty area

1 Year experience in all Critical Care Areas
