Job Title : Field Service Engineer
Location : Hartford, Connecticut
Salary : $65-75K plus bonus
Job Summary of the Field Service Engineer : We are seeking a self-directed and customer-oriented Field Service Engineer who can provide technical expertise, write reports, and contribute to product improvement recommendations.
The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for assembling, commissioning, inspecting, repairing, and troubleshooting systems both domestically and internationally.
Qualifications of the Field Service Engineer :
- Must have at least 5 years of experience in a Field Service role with decision-making authority
- Degree or certificate in Electronics or Electrical Engineering
- Willingness to travel up to 70% of the time (domestic and international)
- Ability to write comprehensive technical reports and documentation
- Proficiency in PLCs is highly desirable
- Capability to read, understand, and troubleshoot electrical schematics
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Clean driving record is a must
- Must be comfortable working at heights
- Strong experience with PLCs, VFDs, data acquisition, wiring, power equipment, and industrial electricity is required. Previous exposure to Siemens, ABB, and TMEiC platforms is highly preferred.
- Must currently possess or have the ability to obtain a valid passport for international travel
Responsibilities of the Field Service Engineer :
- Regularly interact with customers, end-users, vendors, and contractors.
- Assist in scheduling and coordinating the presence of all necessary parties during equipment installation and start-up activities.
- Collaborate internally to ensure prompt response to customer inquiries.
- Carry out troubleshooting of PLCs, VFDs, and other automated equipment, both on-site and remotely.
- Perform repairs on equipment at customer facilities, including both warranty and non-warranty claims.
- Conduct routine inspections of existing system installations.
- Ensure the proper implementation of pre-commissioning activities in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation disciplines, and generate high-quality reports.
- Travel to customer sites to conduct final commissioning and demonstrate equipment functions in accordance with specifications for customer acceptance.
- Support the project team in resolving mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation punch list items and obtaining sign-off as required.
- Attend project and construction meetings as necessary.
- Provide technical training to end-user operators and maintenance personnel.
- Act as a troubleshooter for on-site technical issues, analyzing and resolving faults, and providing on-site assistance to customers for subsequent inquiries.
- Independently coordinate all details of site visits with customers and end-users prior to departure.
- Organize all travel arrangements, including airfare, lodging, and ground transportation.
- Provide direct technical support to customers, contractors, sales, and engineering for testing and field service activities.
