Landmarks for Families (formerly Carolina Youth Development Center) is searching for a Part Time Enrichment Facilitator and Tutor to support our Residential Program.
Landmarks for Families is the oldest non-profit organization in South Carolina and our Mission is to cultivate thriving children and families.
This is a part-time position. Expected hours are Mon. - Fri. from 3 : 00 pm - 7 : 00 pm - supporting our residential Enrichment activities.
OVERALL JOB PURPOSE :
The Part-Time Enrichment Facilitator and Tutor is responsible for supporting the Residential Services Program with academic oversight, tutoring and transition activities, which includes youth-oriented programming aimed at enhancing the youths' education, independent skill set and life experiences.
Programming includes Landmarks for Families' Teen Afterschool (TASC) Program, CDF Freedom School, and yearlong educational and enrichment activities for the youth that we serve.
This programming takes place on both the North Charleston and Moncks Corner campuses. The Part-Time Enrichment Facilitator and Tutor is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and optimal learning environment for all youth participating in our programs.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Assist with developing a calendar of diverse, educational, skill-building activities and experiences for the Enrichment and Education program that foster life skills learning and college and career readiness skills.
- Facilitate the daily delivery of Enrichment and Education programming to include agenda planning, coordinating with different departments, and implementing a routine schedule of events.
- Support educational aspirations of program youth by providing academic support in the form of one-on-one tutoring, group lessons, completing educational assessments and lesson planning.
- Coordinate educational support by liaising and communicating with schools, attending educational meetings, facilitating individualized school plans, tracking grades and attendance.
- Supervise and support program youth using trauma sensitive approaches including the Teaching Family Model.
- Maintain program data trackers associated with program activities, youth skill building, youth education progress, etc.
to measure program effectiveness and provide data required for reporting purposes.
License or Certification : Valid SC driver's license with a good driving record.
Decision Making Authority : Must possess the ability to make sound decisions, weighing all factors for good judgment based on Landmarks for Families' policies and procedures.
Decisions must reflect good clinical skills as well as the best interests of the clients and families.
Requirements :
- Possess warm, empathic relationship-building skills and communication style to establish a trusting relationship within a family.
- Maintain a caring relationship with clients while allowing for independent growth.
- Demonstrate successful parenting with effective behavior management skills or have extensive experience in the childcare field.
- Possess a knowledge and understanding of basic parenting skills and family dynamics.
- Ability to be a positive role model to youth and families.
- Exhibit organizational and writing ability to facilitate the maintenance of accurate and complete records.
- Ability to be a team player working together to achieve the goals of the program and of the agency.
Type of Knowledge Required and or Skills Required : Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to work with a diverse population as well as "high-risk" youth and families.
Must have the skills to actively engage other professionals as well as excellent communication skills and the ability to develop well-rounded, behavioral interventions.
Must possess excellent group facilitation skills.
Education and Specific Training : Bachelor's Degree in Education and teaching certification as well as one year of experience.
