What's the Medication Tech / CMA Experience Like?

As a Medication Tech / CMA, you'll be an essential part of our residents' daily lives. Under the guidance of the Director of Nursing Services and Supervisory Nurse, you'll :

Administer prescribed medications using approved methods, including oral, topical, and inhalants. You'll obtain vital signs and report any abnormalities.

Following the "6 Rights / 3 Checks" protocol ensures safe medication administration, and you'll accurately document this in residents' electronic charts and eMAR.

You'll also calibrate capillary blood glucose (CBG) machines, obtain and document CBG readings, and perform and document a narcotic count at the beginning and end of each shift, reporting any discrepancies.

Ensuring timely medication orders and stepping up with leadership duties when needed in the absence of the Charge Nurse will be part of your role, along with other duties as assigned.

What Are We Looking For?

We're looking for someone with a high school diploma or GED. Ideally, you have three years of experience as a Certified Medication Assistant (CMA) or a Resident Assistant / Caregiver or CNA, especially in Assisted Living, Residential Care Facility, or Long-Term Care settings.

You should have current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and a Food Handler's Card. Attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills are a must, as is the ability to read, write, and document appropriately.

You'll need to be able to prioritize multi-demands using initiative, good judgment, and a professional attitude. Lastly, you must consent to and pass a criminal background check.
