SQL DBA/Programmer- SECRET CLEARANCE REQUIRED- Silver Spring, MD

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a highly skilled SQL DBA / Programmer to support operations at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in Silver Spring, MD.

The SQL DBA / Programmer will be responsible for managing, designing, and maintaining database systems, ensuring data integrity, security, and efficient database performance in a Department of Defense (DoD) environment.

Responsibilities :

• Manage, design, and evaluate various database management systems, including Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Access.
• Administer database servers and middleware tools supporting web-based database systems and frameworks.
• Establish and enforce database administration standards, policies, and user procedures.
• Conduct audits, modifications, and amendments to databases using SQL commands and bulk data imports.
• Lead database projects, overseeing backups, replication, and data synchronization between multiple servers.
• Collaborate with software engineers to develop web-based interfaces and assist system analysts in writing SQL queries for data mining.
• Develop high-level reports using Crystal Reports, SSRS, Tableau, Power BI, and similar tools.
• Ensure compliance with IT regulations and policies, including federal and DoD standards.
• Create documentation, develop SOPs, and handle technical issue resolutions.
• Perform technical tasks related to database-driven web services and program support.

Qualifications :

• M.S. in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
• Active Secret clearance is mandatory, Top Secret is preferred.
• Security+ certification is required.

Preferred Skills and Experience :

• 8+ years of experience designing and administering SQL Server databases within a DoD environment.
• Experience with MS SSRS systems and report deployment within the last 5 years.
• 2+ years of experience managing databases larger than 500 GB.
• Proficiency in MS SQL Server 2008 R2 and experience with reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Crystal Reports.
• Experience with database replication and synchronization.
• MS SQL database-related industry certification.
• Familiarity with SharePoint and bioinformatics is a plus.
• Experience working with MS SQL Server 2016.

Location : Silver Spring, MD (Walter Reed Army Institute of Research) - Onsite, 5 days a week
