Responsibilities
Develop, evaluate and modify processes for distribution engineering. Review and coordinate electric material standards revisions.
Investigate current methods of workflow and methods and determine best practices or best way by evaluating alternative processes, by leading process teams and or process pilot projects.
Provide key support for the development of work management systems. Review and coordinate electric material standards revisions. (25%)
Manage distribution engineering design activities, meet planning criteria andply with all applicable regulatory standards.
Manage staffing in planning, estimating and procuring materials, supplying documentation and drawings for the gas and electric system infrastructure.
Review and approve final design product. (25%)
Determine external and internal customer needs and ensure that the engineering and design for distribution facilities meet or exceed those and system reliability andpliance requirements.
Providepliance and consulting services for the construction and operations group. (20%)
Provide leadership and professional development for all department staff; perform administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department, including employee safety, selection and development of employees, salary administration, budget administration, employee counseling and motivation, organization goals and objectives and planning, organizing, integrating, measuring and reporting the work performed within the department. (15%-20%)
Track technology advances and industry work practices and integrate new technology into MidAmerican Energypany when applicable and justified. (10%)
Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (0%-5%)
Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of human performance improvement techniques.
Evaluate present practices and implement processes, concepts, training and tools to prevent, detect and correct human errors that may adversely impact the safe, reliable operation of the electric transmission and distribution system.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
Professional engineering license, advanced engineering degree or master of business administration preferred.
Eight years of leadership experience in a technical utility environment; electric and gas distribution experience; understanding of utility economics including three years supervisory / management responsibilities.
Excellent verbal and writtenmunication skills, including presentation skills.
Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.
Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects concurrently.
