About The Position
Job Title : Clinical Nurse - Med / Surg Job Specialty : Medical / Surgical Nursing Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Nights, 3x12 Hr Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week Experience : Minimum of one year of nursing experience License : Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the relevant state Certifications : - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification (AHA or ARC) Must-Have : - Nursing Diploma or ADN / ASN from an accredited school of Nursing Job Description : Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards.
- Coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.- Participate in identifying and meeting learning needs.
- Attend education programs based on identified needs.- Use patient education materials relevant to the patient population.
- Assess readiness to learn and developmental level of patients and factors affecting their ability to learn.- Identify expected patient outcomes and revise care plans as needed.
- Engage with interdisciplinary team members for patient care evaluation.- Communicate relevant information to ensure continuity of care.
- Demonstrate competence in caring for patients with complex problems.- Perform bedside point-of-care testing as required.
- Utilize healthcare organization standards and procedures in care delivery.- Organize and prioritize care according to patient and family needs.
- Consult resources timely for patients with complex care issues or at high risk for discharge planning.- Develop goals for professional growth and participate in unit goals and performance improvement activities.
- Use communication systems effectively and promote cost-effective care.- Maintain a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
- Recognize data from complex situations to prioritize care.- Synthesize assessment data before communicating to others.- Assess and anticipate discharge needs of patients and families.
- Develop relationships with families that promote their advocacy for the patient.- Collaborate with patients and families to prepare or update care plans.
- Incorporate multidisciplinary resources in planning care.- Identify and address cultural and ethnic issues in patient care planning.
- Read relevant journals and bring ideas for practice assessment.Please note that advanced certifications such as ACLS and PALS are preferred but not required.
Candidates with a BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing are also preferred.
