Director of Research & Development

Strativ are currently partnered with a rising star in the development and commercialization of Li-ion batteries. They have recently opened a state-of-the-art production line to spearhead the domestic manufacturing of their existing solutions.
They are now looking for someone to drive the product development into the next generation of cell design and processing.
If you are detail-orientated, technical and have strong leadership skills, building high performing R&D teams, this could be the role for you.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead both the R&D and Product Development teams, meeting the companies short and long term goals.
- Implement design change management processes that ensure seamless transition of design to manufacturing
- Build the research team, hiring, coaching and supporting through consistent feedback, and assisting through challenges.
- Lead the company’s technology roadmap and strategy
- Develop and execute upon their current IP strategies
- Drive efforts in R&D that sustain and broaden the company’s competitive advantage
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process and manage technical resources.
- Lead the companies collaborations with research institutions and partners.
Required Skills and Abilities
- PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials, Mechanical Engineering or similar study
- 10+ years of relevant technology experience, including 5+ years of technical team leadership experience
- Direct Li-Ion experience is preferred. Adjacent industry experience could be considered.
- Expert level knowledge of chemistry and chemical interactions
- As a leader of both internal teams and external collaborations, you will be able to demonstrate effective communication.
- Collaborative nature but owns the outcomes of collaborative efforts the buck stops with you
