Summary
The Athletic Trainer will be clinic based and outreach focused as part of the Tulane University Center for Brain Health.
The Athletic Trainer will assist in maximizing the health and wellness of military veterans and first-responders through the provision of facilitated access to high quality comprehensive evaluation and treatment plans.
Successful candidates will have excellent communication organizational and critical thinking skills. This role is pre-dominantly a clinical coordination role so strong understanding of medical case management is important.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1.Exceptionally strong people skills with the ability to interact effectively with veterans / first responders and their family members.
2.Fluent in the use of appropriate digital tools for communication (i.e. phone, electronic medical records, video technology, messaging devices, and other telehealth devices) to support participant care, to enhance interoffice and intra-office communications
3.Ability to maintain confidentiality and strict adherence to HIPAA regulations.
4.Goal-oriented, highly organized, proactive, assertive, and able to meet deadlines consistently.
5.Ability to advocate for excellence in patient services whether on-site or in other areas of the country.
6.Ability to coordinate and schedule multiple medical specialty evaluations, plan and adjust to medical itineraries as needed and care with members of the care team and the participant (and family where appropriate).
7.Ability to foster a collaborative, customer-oriented working environment.
8.Demonstrated record of strong initiative, problem-solving, and adaptability skills.
9.Strong listening, communication, and collaboration skills.
Required Education and / or Experience
1.Bachelor’s degree.
2.National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) at the time of hire.
3.Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (LSBME) Certification required within 90-days of employment and maintained thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
1.Master’s Degree
2.Prior experience as an Athletic Trainer
3.Related experience working with veterans
4.Work history in a medical setting
