Job Description
Wyman-Gordon Pennsylvania, a division of Precision Castparts Corporation (PCC), is a manufacturing leader of Flash Welded and Cold Rolled near net shaped rings for the Gas Turbine Industry.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated person to fill a Process Engineering position for the Mountaintop facility located in Northeast Pennsylvania.
This position is responsible for Process review, identifying and implementing value-added projects in the areas of process control and optimization.
This position works on troubleshooting and improving existing processes and developing new ones. The position requires providing innovative solutions into all phases of manufacturing processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Process engineer will determine manufacturing process and specify all manufacturing dimensions, tolerances and processing route, also will design and provide the necessary tooling and methods used in the manufacturing process, including outside service responsibility for both tooling and product.
Specific Responsibilities
- Responsible for determining operations to produce product and develop processes to ensure quality, cost, increase productivity, and reduce cycle time and scrap.
- Reviews blueprints and customer documents.
- Reviews specifications and requirements of each part number.
- Maintains task listing and task details for production.
- Reviews profitability and processing time to standards for each job.
- Writes tooling purchase orders for new tool or tool rework.
- Makes charts and attends meetings to show profitability and action items.
- Troubleshoots job-specific problems for production floor.
- Answers technical questions for the customer.
- Designs and / or evaluates forging shapes with optimization for most efficient manufacturing process.
- Assists in the acceptance or rejection of deviated material.
- Participates in and initiates cost reduction projects.
- Reviews previous manufacturing data for consistency.
- Develops manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment to ensure consistently economic and high quality results.
- Optimizes process parameters for yield, throughput, and quality.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES
Role has no direct supervisory responsibility. The Process Engineer actively interacts with Sales, Quality, Manufacturing, and Purchasing departments.
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION
- BS Manufacturing / Mechanical / Material Engineering degree or equivalent.
- Knowledge of metal forming and machining processes.
- Knowledge of computer aided design techniques with strong mechanical aptitude.
- Experience with drafting.
- Experience with AutoCad a plus.
- Ability to communicate up, down, and across the organization and manage multiple projects.
- Experience with Excel and Microsoft office programs.
- Working knowledge of production and safety procedures used in manufacturing processes.
- Ability to manage multiple technical projects while meeting project objectives and deadlines.
Normal Working Conditions
- Works under general direction and infrequent supervision.
- Occasional work required near moving mechanical parts.
- Frequent work in a manufacturing environment.
- Occasional standing and walking required.
Travel between locations (sister-plant 15-minutes away) will be about 50%.
