About The Position
Job Title : Pharmacy Technician Job Specialty : Outpatient Job Duration : 27 weeks Shift : Primarily Monday through Friday, shift times vary.
An additional weekend requirement of one weekend shift every four weeks. 8-hour shifts, which can be any of the following : 6 : 00am to 2 : 30pm, 7 : 00am to 3 : 30pm, 7 : 30am to 4 : 00pm, 8 : 30am to 5 : 00pm, 9 : 00am to 5 : 30pm, 9 : 30am to 6 : 00pm, 11 : 30am to 8 : 00pm, 1 : 30pm to 10 : 00pm.
Guaranteed Hours : 40 Experience : One year of experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred. License : Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) is required within 6 months of hire.
Certifications : Pharmacy Technician Certification obtained through passing the Pharmacy Technician Certification Boards exam (PTCE) or the National Healthcareer Associations exam (ExCPT).
Must-Have : - Exceptional customer service and communication skills.- Detail-oriented.- Experience with various computer systems and programs.
Job Description : Provides technical and clerical assistance to the pharmacist in processing medication orders and monitoring drug therapy.
- May procure, measure, compound, count, and deliver medications under pharmacist supervision.- Functions within the guidelines of relevant statutes and codes.
- Assists in the prescription filling process, including triaging patients, data entry, product dispensing, and releasing prescriptions.
- Offers customer support for pharmacy-based services, including obtaining and verifying information for prescription requests and assisting with over-the-counter sales.
- Prioritizes workload to meet patient and customer needs.- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and organizational requirements.
- Appropriately files and maintains all pharmacy records in accordance with law and policy.- Inspects medication storage areas for adherence to storage policies.
- Utilizes technology systems efficiently and accurately.- Ensures accuracy of billing and inventory.- Participates in inventory maintenance and drug exchanges.
- Reviews on-hand quantities and updates the pharmacy dispensing system.- May assist in training new personnel on policies, procedures, and workflows.
- May participate in quality improvement initiatives. Education : High School diploma or equivalent is required. Graduate of an accredited pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
