Law Enforcement Instructor (Workforce Development) Public Safety Center
Job Summary : Instructors are hired to teach specific classes or programs that are scheduled and taught at various times throughout the calendar year.
In addition to providing classroom or on-line instruction, adjunct faculty may also provide program support and / or develop, modify or customize new or existing curriculum and lesson plans in accordance with College and Department curriculum requirements and quality standards.
Adjunct faculty may also participate in firing range operations. All adjunct faculty will also complete certain class and student related documentation the College requires for accurate record keeping of their assigned classes and student performance.
Minimum Qualifications :
- High School Diploma or GED
- Background or Experience in a Law Enforcement Related Field
- MPOETC-certified General or Specialized Instructor (For Act 120 and Act 180 program instruction)
- PSP certified Act 235 instructor (For Act 235 program instruction)
- FETC-certified Instructor (For Probation / Parole program instruction)
- Law Enforcement Subject Matter expert (for elective program instruction)
- Certified firearms instructor (for range operations)
- Instructor credentials for specific areas of instruction (for contracted training programs)
Licensing Requirements :

Job Specific Task List :
Adjunct faculty provide interactive classroom or on-line based instruction and student academic support for assigned classes.
Lesson plans are designed or delivered to ensure both quality and consistency of academic instruction. Strong candidates must possess good organizational skills, the ability to motivate and encourage success in fulfilling their teaching duties with minimal supervision.
Faculty should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning amongst a wide range of student backgrounds.
Candidates should demonstrate resourcefulness, creativity, initiative and a sincere interest in transforming students' lives so that they can reach their maximum potential, while being culturally sensitive and dependable.
- Adjunct faculty may also have a responsibility for providing face to face instruction both on and off campus to local organizations, military groups, government entities, companies, and other educational institutions within HACC's service region.
