Position Information Job Title Assistant Professor - Counseling Department Counseling Essential Functions The Department of Counseling at the University of Nebraska at Omaha is seeking a tenure-track assistant or associate professor to join a growing and energetic Counseling Department team for the 2025-2026 academic year.
The successful candidate will provide culturally sensitive instruction in the CACREP-accredited core and Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialization areas, engage in an active agenda of scholarly / creative activity (including external funding), and provide service to the department, college of education, university, community, and profession.
The development and maintenance of positive relationships and partnerships with community-based mental and behavioral health organizations and / or school disctricts is expected.

- Duties include teaching courses in the core and clinical mental health; active engagement in scholarly / creative activities leading to publication;
- advising graduate students; supervising practicum and internship experiences; collaborating with community-based mental health organizations, service activities at the program, department, college, university, and professional levels;
and generating external funding.

Work Schedule Varies Additional Duties Required Qualifications An earned doctorate in Counselor Education or closely related field with CACREP core faculty eligibility.
- Successful candidate must have content and working knowledge of CACREP standards; evidence of ability to engage in scholarly / creative activity leading to publication in quality peer reviewed journals;
- evidence of ability to engage in professional service. Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience as a licensed professional counselor / mental health professional;
- proven ability to teach in a CACREP accredited core and clinical mental health counseling; a minimum of 2 years of experience as a licensed counselor;
