Summary

The Software Product Management Manager is responsible for writing operational requirements for complex Structural Engineering, CAD and Business Management software, including design, documentation and verification of features and functionality.

This role provides technical support assistance and training for support of new features and functionality. This individual will lead a team of Software Product Managers within MiTek's Automation Solutions Group and is an active and critical member of an Agile Development Scrum team within software development processes.

This leader will be a key member of the decision making group that assesses the risk of various projects alongside Software Developers and Software Quality Managers.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Manage and lead a team of 4 or more Software Product Managers responsible for software used on / with MiTek's automated industrial machinery products.

Responsible for hiring, pay increases, performance reviews and disciplinary action of direct reports.

Creates procedures and standards for the team to maximize performance and reduce roadblocks

Mentor less experienced Software Product Managers.

Lead team members through specification of requirements for current and future products by conducting stakeholder research gathered through ongoing visits to customers and non-customers.

Drives a solution set across software development teams through requirements, product visualizations, and presentations.

Actively engages the requirements team and collaborates with software development to ensure that solutions are efficient, consistent and fulfill stakeholder business needs.

Engages Software Developers and Software Quality Analysts in design and design review to ensure complex feature objectives are met.

Provides requirements reviews to ensure that Software Developers and Software Quality Analysts fully understand targeted features and functionality.

Performs product demos to customers that will encompass the full breadth of the software suite.

Actively engages team members to develop alternative system and software designs.

Becomes an expert with respect to the competition, focusing on domain knowledge of the area of responsibility.

Attendance during regular work hours and overtime as required.

REQUIREMENTS :

Bachelors Degree in Software Engineering, or equivalent; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

3-5 years of Product Management experience required.

Previous experience managing and leading a team highly preferred

Experience managing machinery products and / or software products as a Product Manager highly preferred

Experience with automation equipment or machinery desired

Experience in a manufacturing environment or construction industry preferred.

Experience with the software development lifecycle and working in an Agile development process preferred.

Familiarity with software development environments like C# or Visual Basic .NET is beneficial but not required.

Strong communication skills to interact frequently with stakeholders and clients.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
