Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will oversee the Manufacturing Engineering Department that provides manufacturing engineering support to all areas of the business and ensures the engineering team works together cohesively.
The manufacturing engineering team is responsible for new model integrations, current product support, electrical engineering for integrations and current product, engineering changes, documentation control, build of materials, labor management, labor efficiency, and advanced manufacturing engineering.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage salary engineers, office and floor techs, and hourly welders; setting direction, goals and budgets.
- Safe production planning to meet budget requirements while maximizing cost and production efficiency.
- Research, analyze, specify, and procure production tools and equipment or fixtures to meet the organization's current and future needs.
- Develop, plan and execute direct and indirect labor forecast and standards for current and new products and manufacturing equipment.
- BOM and ECR process management, material utilization, print library management.
- Work cross-functionally with a high degree of collaboration to multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- The ideal candidate will help drive Lean and other continuous improvement processes across the business; or lead cross-functional project teams to ensure that the strategy, development and execution of production resources and budgets are achieved.
Experience / Education
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Leadership positions with proven accomplishments.
- Application of proven quality and lean manufacturing processes and methodologies; Six Sigma Green Belt desired.
- Project management methodologies leading projects; high level of execution.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of time standards and plant layout, management systems, and inventory systems.
Experience and Skills
- Proven management experience in low volume, high mix custom operations environment.
- Lean Manufacturing leadership including equipment and tool evaluations.
- Ability to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
- Proven ability to work in and with an agile, dynamic, team-oriented environment.
- 5 years’ experience in a management role in a manufacturing or engineering role.
- An employee-oriented leadership style that supports individual mentorship, development, and a positive team-building culture.
- Must have a proven track record of being able to influence and coordinate personnel and resources not within their immediate control.
- Experienced leader working across, up and down internal and external organizational boundaries.
- Able to manage multiple shift operations and varied work schedules to assume timely completion of critical projects.
- Commitment to quality and standards that are acceptable by the industry.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
- Proven problem solving and decision-making abilities required; excellent verbal, written and presentation skills as well as experience communicating with technical, non-technical and cross-functional teams.
