Description
Assists the Research Manager with the management and facilitation and implementation of research studies and projects. Provides support drafting, collecting, and maintaining regulatory and compliance documentation required for conducting research.
Serves as the project manager for a clinical coordinating center and assists in the day-to-day activities of the project they oversee.
Leads quality improvement initiatives and develops efficiencies by planning, implementing and maintaining organizational systems for research processes, standard operating procedures and workflows.
Coordinates and communicates with investigators and other research personnel to assure compliance with all regulatory requirements, maintaining a collaborative relationship with research teams.
Applies clinical research expertise to the preparation of documents for research studies in accordance with FDA and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
Act as expert resource for research staff in the department.
Serves as a liaison between research leadership and multidisciplinary PIs, research / medical staff, Lurie Children’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) .
Leads the development and coordination of educational programs and manages the orientation program for clinical research coordinators, fellows, PIs and affiliate staff.
Attends workshops, seminars, conferences and symposiums as applicable, to maintain current professional knowledge of healthcare and research best practices.
Streamlines and ensures consistency in office processes.
Provides project planning support for study teams, including consultation and needs assessments regarding study design, feasibility, data management, research dissemination (internal and external), and grant or funding opportunities.
Maintains a working knowledge of breadth of clinical research activities occurring at Lurie Children’s.
Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others.

Position Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
Minimum of five years of related experience in a clinical research setting preferred.
Expert knowledge of FDA and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and be detailed oriented.
Ability to function independently with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated strong leadership skills and strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of faculty, staff and external contacts.
Fluency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint and database management.
