Overview
Assists in the production of attractive, palatable and therapeutically correct foods in compliance with sanitation regulations for residents and employees.
Responsibilities
- Obtains needed supplies from storeroom freezer, etc. to complete daily assignments.
- Ensures standardized recipes are used in preparation of all menu items.
- Inspects and tastes food for quality, presentation, and adherence to menu.
- Works closely with the chef / senior cook in preparation and blast chilling of foods.
- Prepares food for special functions.
- Assists with inventory and projected orders, prepares and places food and supply orders as assigned.
- May be responsible for the overall dining services operation in the absence of the Director and Senior Cook including : preparation and serving of meals, sanitation of food service areas, accurate record keeping, receiving, rotating and inventory of products.
Qualifications
Education :
High School Diploma or GED preferred
Work Experience :
Two years culinary school or training preferred
Required Knowledge and Skills :
Basic command of English language (speaking, reading, writing) and basic math skills required to ensure correct perform duties, understanding and following instructions, dietary restrictions, etc for patient, resident and employee safety.
Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team and customers.
Must be able to adapt to circumstances that arise and be able to make decisions quickly to problem solve any issues that may develop.
