WRA is currently seeking an experienced Water Resources Engineer in our Fairfax, VA office. This position will work with other Virginia regions as well.
Responsibilities will include hydrologic / hydraulic (H / H) studies and drainage, stormwater management (SWM) and erosion / sediment control (ESC) design primarily for transportation projects.
Responsibilities will include the following :
- Performing hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) watershed analysis and modeling for river mechanics / Floodplain Studies
- Preparation or modification of drainage design on CADD drawings / construction plan documents
- Water quality, quantity, design per VA DEQ regulations
- Storm sewer system design and profiles
- Erosion and sediment control design
- Bridge / culvert hydraulics and design, including scour analysis
Other duties may include performing GIS based project background mapping, utilization of H&H modeling software, technical report preparation, and construction cost estimating.
Some field work may be required;, therefore, the candidate will need a vehicle or access to transportation for this position.
Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering with 5-10 years of relevant experience
- Licensed as a Registered Professional Engineer required
- Experience designing drainage, stormwater management systems / BMP’s, erosion and sediment pollution controls; and preparing contract documents preferred.
- Experience with H / H design software including HY-8, NRCS (TR-55 / TR-20); HydroCAD, StreamStats, HEC-RAS, Pondpack et. al preferred
- Hands-on experience with MicroStation CADD software. Understanding of 3D design, including OpenRoads Designer, a plus.
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others
