Civil Engineer - Transportation Job Code 4979 Employment Type REG Location Search Los Angeles, California, Ontario, California, Santa Clarita, California, Temecula, California, Tustin, California, Victorville, California DEA is looking for a Civil Engineer to support our Roads and Highways group in Southern California .
A successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter assigned to work on multi-discipline projects as a project engineer and perform engineering calculations and design using specialized technical skills, experience and engineering judgment to transform concept designs into construction drawings and technical specifications.
Projects may include street, highway, transit, and multimodal design, along with construction documents, utility plans and all supporting documentation.
- Design, prepare, and oversee the preparation of roadway, traffic, or stormwater plans using Autodesk Civil 3D or Bentley Microstation software.
- Prepare and / or direct the preparation and modification of construction documents, reports, specifications and cost estimates for project.
- Analyze maps, reports, drawings, as-builts, and test results for design projects.
- Perform post-design construction support services to respond to contractor RFIs, submittal reviews, as-built preparation, and field observations.
- Provide technical reviews and implement DEAs quality assurance and quality control procedures.
- Work with project teams on all aspects of projects, including project set-up, drafting, design, quality review and quality assurance, project coordination / organization, etc.
May plan, lead, and mentor junior engineers.
- Ensure excellence in project execution for on-time, on-budget deliverables of quality that meet or exceed the industrys standard of care.
- Resolve project design issues, provide project coordination, and help maintain positive client and staff relationships.
- Participate in project meetings and conduct site visits and field inspection as required.
- Assist in the overall management of a project, including preparing of proposals, work plans and workload projections. May serving as point of contact for clients on some projects.
- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of California
- Minimum 5 years of civil engineering design experience
- Ability to communicate and work in a team-oriented environment
- Minimum 8 years of Transportation experience is preferred
- Past experience working with CalTrans (District 7, 8, or 12)
- Proficiency in Civil3D, Microstation, and / or InRoads
- Alternative Project Delivery or Design Build Experience is a plus
