Principal Responsibilities :
The JCC of Central NJ seeks an energetic, innovative individual with a background in education to lead our After School program and develop programming for our youth and teen population.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, enjoys working with children, and inspired by developing young leaders. This is a 40 hour per week year-round, overtime exempt position supervised by the Associate Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee daily operations and schedule of the After School program
- Hire, supervise and manage staff; conduct regular staff meetings
- Supervise Assistant Director of Youth and After School Programs and Children's Music and Theater Manager
- Oversee daily needs and care of children attending the program
- Manage behaviors accordingly with staff
- Plan and execute creative and exciting daily programming and schedule
- Communicate daily with parents and schools
- Coordinate busing from schools; confirm routes and student numbers with bus company
- Coordinate and communicate with local Hebrew schools regarding transportation
- Organize staff / student absence communication and proper staff / student ratios on a daily basis
- Work alongside Aquatics and Enrichments departmental staff to ensure children attend their extracurricular activities
- Manage annual registration and monthly student schedule changes; update member registration and manage member payments accordingly
- Create and manage After School specialty activities
- Plan and implement Vacation Day programs throughout the school year
- Order and manage necessary program supplies
- Order and manage snack for After School and Vacation Day programs
- Develop and manage the After School budget
- Work in conjunction with other departments to share and utilize space
- Oversee After School space requirements via software program
- Create and execute dynamic teen leadership and engagement programs
- Partner with community organizations for teen programs and events
- Create and manage Teen department budget
- Support community engagement events for elementary and middle school age members in conjunction with Camp Yachad (JCC day camp) and After School programs
- Develop and run innovative youth programs (example : kids night out)
- Fulfill summer leadership role in Camp Yachad
- Attend JCC all-staff, Children's Services Department, and Camp Leadership staff meetings
- Collaborate with Marketing department to promote program offerings
Minimum Qualifications :
Qualifications and Skills :
- Bachelors in Education or related degree preferred
- Experience working with children
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to lead successfully
- Strong organizational skills
Physical Requirements :
- 3-4 hours of sitting while working at a computer
- 2-3 hours of moving throughout the day
- Lifting 10-15 pound boxes of material when needed
