About the Role
As the Labor and Employment Counsel, you will provide legal support to Human Resources professionals and be responsible for labor and employment legal matters across HARMAN’s business and global locations.
Your Team
This position will report to HARMAN’s Vice President, Ethics, Integrity & Privacy, and has no direct reports.
What You Will Do
- Provide legal advice to Human Resources professionals and other internal stakeholders on employment -related policies, processes and templates to reflect applicable laws and regulations
- Assist with ensuring compliance with all applicable labor and employment laws and regulations, including anti-discrimination laws, ADA, FMLA / medical leave laws, wage and hour, work classification, employee benefits, worker safety, workers’ compensation and other regulatory employment requirements
- Review a variety of labor and employment agreements, including employment, independent contractor and separation agreements
- Assist with labor and employment claims from pre-litigation charges, demand letters and agency claims, to labor and employment-related litigation
- Conduct workplace investigations, including whistleblower allegations, discrimination and personnel performance issues
- Assist with developing and delivering labor and employment training and communications across HARMAN’s business
What You Need
- Juris Doctor and Bar admission or equivalent in jurisdiction).
- Must be licensed to practice law in the United States and a member of the bar in any state or the District of Columbia in good standing
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of related experience, law firm or corporate settings with a focus on labor and employment law
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to liaise with all areas of the business
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond promptly to shifting priorities
What Makes You Eligible
- 5% travel domestic or international
- Willingness to work in an office in Novi, Michigan or remotely with EST preferred
