A prominent and successful 50+ year-old privately owned Full-Service Real Estate Investment Firm in Long Beach, CA is looking for an experienced Senior Financial Controller to join their finance team.
We’re looking for the best and the brightest! The Financial Controller will possess a solid foundation in real estate general ledger accounting, financial reporting, tax management, and team management.
The ideal candidate will be a CPA with significant experience collaborating with Big-4 advisory firms in regard to tax management strategy.

Key Responsibilities :
- The Senior Financial Controller will be tasked with successfully mentoring and guiding an established team of accounting professionals while creating a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Establish, monitor, and enforce internal control procedures.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee monthly close and preparation of internal and external financial reporting.
- Coordinate the preparation of annual operating budgets.
- Develop and implement effective tax strategies ensuring government compliance.
- Maintains open lines of communication with investors and banking associates.
- Oversee preparation of CAM, RE Tax, Insurance, Utility Reconciliations.
Skills and Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA preferred
- Demonstrated 10+ years of commercial real estate accounting experience.
- History of successfully managing accounting teams.
- Must possess a strong foundation in GL accounting and financial reporting.
- Experience collaborating with Big-4 CPA advisory firms.
- Strong experience effectively creating budgets and forecasts.
- Strong understanding of Excel modeling and financial analysis.
- Ability to correctly calculate CAM and Utility reconciliations.
- Maintains a growth mindset and continuously improves systems and processes for key internal and external stakeholders
- Must be self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks with strong attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skill with ability to relate and address issues with a diverse group of people.
