Overview :

The Manager Accounting role oversees a set of accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), corporate policies, and external audits.

This position manages the monthly closing of accounts and preparation of reports in support of the financial statements, as well as two accountants.

The Manager Accounting reports to and works closely with the Assistant Controller and others in the organization in analysis and reconciliation of accounts.

Responsibilities :

• Manages the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations, and report preparation
• Ensures the accuracy of monthly financial statements for all companies including the accounting for all intercompany transactions and the consolidation of all the entities
• Ensures the accuracy and integrity of all Direct segment transactions
• Assists with presentation of monthly financial results to Corporate Office and Financial, Planning and Analysis groups
• Participates in the ongoing development / establishment of accounting policies and procedures
• Ensures compliance with internal control policies in a SOX environment
• Collaborates with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance
• Maintains hierarchy and scalability in chart of accounts and accuracy in the general ledger and financial statements
• Prepares detailed journal entries and account analyses
• Assists with compilation of information for preparation of tax provision and returns
• Maintains and reconciles inter-company accounting between the various entities and ensure eliminations within these companies

Qualifications :

• Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Advanced Excel skills
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and general ledger functionality
• Demonstrated project management skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment
• Ability to maintain flexibility in a fast-paced environment, and continuously evolve to meet changing business needs
• Quick learner and problem solver when faced with new issues or challenges
• Ability to build partnerships, influence decisions and work in a collaborative style

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA or MBA preferred
