B3W Elective Orthopedics :

B3West is a 24-bed unit, privaterooms in the post-surgical services. The primary population iselective orthopedic surgery & Total Joint surgery.

The nursingstaff cares for post-surgical patients as well as orthopedic traumaand general medical-surgical patients.

TheClinical Nurse contributes to the creation of a compassionate andcaring environment for patients, families, and colleagues throughdisplays of kindness and active listening.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but not limited to :

  • Implements physician orders, administersmedications, starts IVs, performs treatments, procedures andspecial tests, and document treatment as required by company policyand local / state / federal rules and regulations.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify andassess patients' conditions.
  • Assesses and evaluatespatient needs for, and responses to, care rendered.
  • Applies sound nursing judgment in patient care managementdecisions.
  • Provides primary and emergency care foroccupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
  • Administers over-the-counter and prescription medicationsas ordered.
  • Collaborates with the nursing team tocreate a Plan of Care for all patients.
  • Directs andguides ancillary personnel and maintain standards of professionalnursing.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Graduate of a professional academicnursing program in which a Diploma, Associate Degree orBaccalaureate Degree is conferred
  • Must hold currentNYS Registered Nurse license
  • Obtains and maintainscertification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac LifeSupport (ACLS)
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of previousclinical RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational andtime-management skills
  • Possesses knowledge ofquality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools andtechniques and demonstrates ability to apply in support ofdepartmental and patient care quality improvement.
