The Director of Corporate, Foundation and Government Grants (CFGG) has primary responsibility for planning, organizing, and implementing programs designed to secure major gifts and grants from private and public sources.

The CFGG works on both institutional grants, as well as on faculty grants. Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement & University Communications, this position also interacts closely with the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Essential Functions

  • Design, implement and manage a comprehensive, proactive development plan focused on expanding corporate, foundation and government relationships and coordinating the activity needed to secure support, including working with volunteers.
  • Monitor business and philanthropic trends and, in turn, identify corporate, foundation and government prospects that will lead to commitments supporting the mission and strategic plan of the University.
  • Work closely with faculty and the Vice President for Academic Affairs to identify funders in their areas of interest and assist in the development and presentation of proposals.
  • Initiate opportunities for faculty and administrators to interact with corporate, foundation and government prospects and ensure that the program or project seeking funding is a match to the prospect’s interest and funding priorities.
  • Develop competitive proposals for corporate, foundation and government prospects to leverage support of University goals including annual grant award targets of $1M+.
  • Monitor submission deadlines, prepare and edit proposals and supporting budget materials, secure institutional approvals, and manage the final submission to prospects.
  • Develop and maintain a complete stewardship plan for all funders including reporting to donor organizations as per their requirement, overseeing post-award administration, and communication with campus recipients to ensure all stipulations of award are being met.
  • Act as the University’s authorized organizational representative for submissions of government proposals via and other federal government application sites.
  • Perform occasional indirect supervision of the Stewardship & Research Officer for grant-relation functions, including grants database and prospect management, grant reporting timetables and reports, and specialized foundation and corporation grant proposals.

Proposal work will be undertaken under the supervision of the Director.

Performs such similar, comparable, or related duties as may be required or assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge : Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience : Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in grants writing is required, with a successful track record of securing funding at the five- and six-figure level, and occasional awards of $1M+.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills are essential. Must have experience working with staff, faculty, volunteers, and donors.

Past experience in higher education preferred.

Skills / Aptitude : Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, is required. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge preferred.
