The Opportunity
Vermilion Energy has an exciting opportunity within the US Business Unit, seeking a Petroleum Engineer Based in our Denver, CO office this role will report directly to the Team Lead, Asset Team and play a critical role of the US organization This role will provide technical expertise in reservoir and production engineering as well as development planning and project management.

What you will do
- Primarily responsible for generating production forecasts and ensuring production meets the organizations targets;
- Assist with budget planning, monthly / quarterly updates and assist with creating capital budget updates;
- Support budget process by preparing and presenting economic metrics for drilling prospects, asset optimization and capital projects as well as completing lookback economics;
- Support the year end reserve process by reviewing well performance, coordinating with geology on oil-in place and estimating operating expense and capital costs;
- Support production optimization efforts of all wells and infrastructure, identifying and recommending opportunities to increase production, enhance well recoveries, reduce operating expenses and apply innovative and cost-effective optimization;
- Work with production engineering and geology to review subsurface issues affecting well performance and identify areas for optimization;
- Develop and maintain strong and positive relationships with operations team, and field staff through regular site visits;
Liaise with internal team members and external consultants to coordinate permit applications for planned drills
Frame and execute technical assessments of opportunities / projects
Ensure assigned projects have appropriate approvals and execution plans in place
Prepare and manage assigned project related budgets including generating cost estimates, economics, raising AFE’s, and monthly budget tracking and accruals;
Ensure key milestones, stakeholders, resources, and decision makers are clearly identified for assigned projects to ensure completion on time and within budget
Actively track progress of assigned projects against the project plan and ensure adjustments are made as required
- Conduct routine production surveillance of competitor’s wells;
- Lead or coordinate planning and execution of other special projects as required;
- Participate in Vermilion’s Health, Safety, and Environmental program and ensure that HSE standards and policies are being followed;

What you will bring
Bachelor of Science in Petroleum or Reservoir Engineering
Typically 5-8 years experience within the Oil and Gas Industry
Experience with production forecasting, budget and Long Range Planning, project coordination, and economic analysis
Powder River Basin Experience Preferred
Proficient with Mosaic Asset Management software
Knowledge and understanding of COGEH guidelines for Estimation and Classification of Oil and Gas Resources and Reserves is an asset
Excellent working knowledge of industry regulations, standards and practices relevant to US operations
Able to deal with multiple tasks which may be regular or complex;
Experience in working with multidisciplined teams to drive projects from concept to completion
Technical proficiency in Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Possesses the ability to work with all levels of the organization and to communicate HSE requirements in a positive manner to all field personnel
What we offer
Competitive base salary and bonus
The salary range offered for this role is $125,000 - $155,000. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado.
The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job related education, training, and / or experience
