Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an experienced, results-oriented, organized, and self-starting Sr. Compliance Engineer to support NPI and Sustaining programs within AWS’ Global Trade and Product Compliance (GTPC) function.

GTPC is responsible for ensuring that the infrastructure equipment necessary to support the AWS services are imported / exported in a compliant manner across the multiple countries where AWS operates and will expand, including all product certification / safety regulations.
As a Sr. Compliance Engineer, you will primarily be responsible for providing Safety Engineering support. Experience with one or more of these standards - EN / UL / IEC62368-1, EU Machinery Directive, UL508A, UL189, and other safety requirements for Data Center power & cooling products.
You will collaborate with AWS business teams, product compliance TPMs, agency partners, and legal to drive global delivery of certifications for critical hardware.
You will constantly seek and implement methods to innovate how we operate and scale. You will also regularly communicate with senior leadership on status, risk, and strategy.

Successful candidates will have deep subject matter expertise in being able to identify technical compliance requirements, design techniques for achieving first time test passes, and trouble-shooting issues to find root cause, corrective actions, and preventative actions.
Along with strengths in two or more of these compliance engineering areas - EMC, RF, Energy Efficiency, Environmental (materials).
Key job responsibilities
- Scope new programs to identify technical requirements in the domain of one or, preferably more, of these regulatory areas : Safety, EMC, RF, and Energy Efficiency.
- Proactively engage with product development teams to assess risk and implement mitigation measures.
- Leverage your deep functional knowledge to manage technical issues with our Design Partners (ODM / JDM) and, when required, dive deep to solve gating issues.
- Deliver certifications that document in-scope compliance.
- Innovate to create and document processes that enable our team to scale efficiently along with AWS' business. Primary categories of interest are ITE and Data Center-level power and cooling products.
- Develop metrics to manage business and provide insights on which improvement opportunities should be prioritized

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
- 7+ years of progressive experience in supporting NPI / NPD design related to product compliance, primarily safety - Requirements setting, design reviews, trouble-shooting & problem solving, final certification review.
- Experience must include ITE and / or Data Center power & cooling equipment categories.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with the project management of technical projects
- Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
- Experience with one or more of these standards - Machinery Directive, UL508A, UL189, and other safety requirements for Data Center power & cooling products.
