The Medical ICCU is a state of the art 29-bed intermediate critical care inpatient unit that prides itself in providing patient centered family care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations.
The mission of this unit will be to provide the utmost quality of care to patients that require a higher level of care but do not fit the care needs that an intensive care setting provides.
Highlighting a care model that places focus on nurses delivering exceptional care and emphasizes a Primary Care Nursing model with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 3-4.
Nurses serving in this unit care for a diverse patient population including but not limited to neurological, medical, advanced pulmonary requiring CPAP, BiPAP, AVAPS, high-flow oxygen, or mechanical ventilation via tracheostomy, surgical, trauma, orthopedic, gastrointestinal, metabolic, continuous intermediate cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, and patients requiring nursing interventions every 2 hours for (neuro checks, complex wound care, glucose monitoring, blood pressure, etc.
- vital signs hourly for up to 4 hours. A multi-disciplinary approach to nursing care is utilized on the ICCU.
- CNAs are responsible for providing basic patient care under the supervision of a nurse. The duties generally include observing patients, recording vital signs, performing EKGs, and reporting changes in patient conditions.
Qualifications
- Applicant has completed Nurse Aide course and presents Nurse Aide Certification. PCA or PCT certification also acceptable
- Must maintain a current BLS certification from American Heart Association
OR for Nurse Assistant
NAs are responsible for providing basic patient care under the supervision of a nurse. The duties generally include observing patients, recording vital signs, performing EKGs, and reporting changes in patient conditions.
Qualifications
- Nursing student who has completed approximately one quarter of their nursing curriculum (LVN or RN) and clinical experience Or applicant has at least one year of previous / recent hospital Nurse Aide experience.
- Must maintain a current BLS certification from American Heart Association
