Assistant Plant Manager
The Assistant PlantManager will assist the Plant Manager with all aspects of plant operations.This includes implementing and maintaining all Safety, Health, Environmentaland Quality programs;
maintaining equipment utilizing preventive and correctivemaintenance systems; minimizing unit cost by optimizing process efficiency andmanaging operating expenses.
Responsibilities include, but are not inclusiveof, the following :
Safety :
Provide a safe environment for all employees.
Investigate accidents.
Review customer orders for safety and feasibility.
Administer the company safety policy.
Ensure the plant operates in accordance with relevant local, state, federal, and international regulations.
Production :
Responsible for the performance and activities of plant employees.
Facilitates the local production planning and scheduling, branch purchasing and inventory control and effectively maintains production flow (raw materials, finished stock, etc.) to meet requirements.
Directs and participates in development projects in order to improve operations, quality, production volume, and originate new or improved products, systems or facilities.
Ensures that the facility is secure and maintained. Recommends additional facilities or equipment.
Promotes attentiveness to customer requirements throughout the organization.
Assists in proper staffing levels and training; Involvement in disciplinary actions or performance recommendations.
Must have working knowledge of all local, state and federal legal and licensing requirements pertaining to the production, storage, handling, shipping, use, and disposal of hazardous materials.
Maintains good relations with employees, contractors, suppliers, customers, and other Matheson departments.
Performs all other tasks assigned by upper management.
Quality :
Responsible for maintaining and improving the branch Quality system.
Responsible for creating a quality-driven work place.
Involved in management review meetings and ensures the corporate and local quality metrics are met.
ESSENTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Scheduling and supervision of contractors.
Assist the Plant Manager to achieve all production, efficiency, quality and budgetary targets.
Identify and evaluate process / equipment problems and take corrective actions to resolve.
Assist the Plant Manager in creating and maintaining local operating procedures to assure they are accurate and current.
Assist the Plant Manager with the implementation and maintenance of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality systems in order to meet the requirements of internal and external policies and regulations.
Optimize plant performance by tracking performance data and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Complete all training assignments on time.
Able to interact with customers, vendors, auditors, and other outside associates.
Responsible for interfacing and training outside carriers and assisting with loading.
Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
Requirements :
B.S. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, or 10 years industry experience in manufacturing management and leadership positions - Bachelor's degree preferred.
IS0-9001 training preferred.
Strong communication skills.
Strong commitment to Safety - Strong sense of urgency is required in this dynamic just in time production environment
Prior background with maintenance a plus
