Role

Under general supervision, supports a range of various activities in the Safety Department, including accident investigations, safety observations, inspections, and maintaining safety records.

This role is required to be on-site daily.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Investigates accidents to establish facts related to their causation and obtain information useful in preventing recurrences of similar accidents.
  • Conducts safety observations, in-cab observations, facility inspections, and site inspections.
  • Prepares, maintains, and analyzes records pertaining to safety activities such as accidents / incidents, workers' compensation, OSHA, etc.
  • Coordinates and conducts safety training.
  • Coordinates and administers drug screen process (new hire, random, etc.).
  • Makes and maintains Driver Qualification Files (DQFs) in compliance with the Department of Transportation and company requirements.
  • Manages the workflow, adjudication, and coordinating response of worker’s compensation cases including monitoring when items need to be escalated.
  • Makes recommendations for changes based on analyzing accidents / incidents, workers' compensation, OSHA, etc.
  • Partners with other internal departments as appropriate
  • Prepares correspondence and reports.
  • Monitors inventory of personal protective equipment and safety supply levels; prepares purchase orders for approval.
  • Travel to various sites may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Two or more years of related work experience.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Customer / client orientation.
  • Ability to identify and seek needed information.
  • Research skills.
  • Detail oriented with organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
