Chief Purpose of this position :
The Department of Surgery at the Virginia Commonwealth University / VCUHealth System is actively recruiting for a full-time pediatric plastic surgeon.
This position is an open rank, collateral, non-tenure track faculty position inthe area of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
The faculty member will have primary practice in pediatric plasticsurgery and will support the division in teaching responsibilities at the VCUMedical Center.
Candidate will participate in pediatric and adultcraniofacial surgery and will help to cover face trauma.
Position Responsibilities :
Teaching
Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities in allareas of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with direct oversight to theresident clinics both at the VCU Medical Center.
Research
Faculty member will establish clinical research projectswith medical students and residents to establish evidence-based practiceoutcomes in the areas of pediatric plastic surgery, , general plastic surgeryand surgical education.
Service
Faculty member will serve on departmental and hospital committeesas assigned and participate in regional and national professionalorganizations.
Clinical
Facultymember clinical responsibility will be in the care of the Plastic andReconstructive patients on the MCV campus of VCU, as well as communityfacilities.
They will participate in pediatric andadult craniofacial surgery and will help to cover face trauma. They will be responsible forthe development of an active surgical practice, with the support of theDivision and Department’s leadership.
Required Qualifications :
- Must be board certified / board eligible in plastic and reconstructive surgery
- Fellowship training in pediatric plastic surgery with expertise in craniofacial surgery
- Experience in building and leading a service line in pediatric plastic surgery including wound care, softtissue reconstruction, and cleft / craniofacial surgery
- Commitment to resident education and teaching
- Commitment to clinical research and innovation
- Superior communication and interpersonal skillsare a must
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diversefaculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a facultymember at VCU is required
