Description
Primary role is the technical processing of biospecimens in the Penn Medicine BioBank with emphasis on DNA isolations. DNA isolations includes both automated and manual systems and all supporting aspects of DNA isolations.
Biospecimens will include blood, tissue, and bodily fluids. Sample handling encompassing blood separation and advanced cell gradient and tissue culture.
Under supervision of Technical Director and Lab Manager, maintain strict adhere to SOPs, QC and QA policies consistent with study guidelines as well as ISBER Best Practices.
Facilitate all aspects of sample inventory and distribution. Provide special handling and processing of unusual specimens.
Additional responsibilities include freezer monitoring and rotating on-call freezer response, shipping biological specimens, record keeping, equipment maintenance / calibration, and safety compliance in the lab.
Candidates must have good communication skills.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with 0-1 year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Applicant must be detail-oriented and able to work independently. Must possess ability to interact easily with clinical and research staff.
Must possess superb time management skills; be well organized and highly motivated. Ability to communicate clearly, work with varying personalities, and manage multiple projects and duties at one time preferred.
Knowledge of PC applications and experience in database entry preferred. Physical requirements include frequent walking, bending, lifting of supplies and equipment (20-40 pound load), and manual dexterity to select small vials from frozen storage locations.
Position contingent upon funding
Targeted Pay Range : $16.60 / hr-$17 / hr
