Job Summary
The Georgia Department of Education’s (GaDOE) - Atlanta Area School for the Deaf located in Clarkston, GA, is recruiting for School ASL Interpreter.
Under broad supervision, performs duties including but not limited to :
Description of Duties
- Provide ASL interpreting services at AASD. This includes IEP meetings, assemblies, assorted staff meetings, conferences, and home visits
- Strong ASL to English voicing skills are critical in support of AASD’s educational mission
- Staff interpreter will be assigned additional departmental duties to include but not limited to scheduling of interpreters, clerical work, ASL mentoring of staff, interpreter mentoring and video creation / consultation in our Accessible Materials Project studio, collaboration with the schools ASL teachers and specialists
- Must adhere to the RID code of professional conduct
- Must be a strong team player and demonstrate flexibility
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following :
- Hold current National RID certification (NIC, CI, or CI & CT)
- Experience interpreting in various settings
- Experience providing ASL workshops and trainings
- Computer literacy
- Understanding of and experience working with the Deaf community
- Flexibility in scheduling
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License

Master's degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Four years of related experience.
