Job Summary :

We are seeking an experienced MSHA Certified Field Safety Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for promoting a safe work environment at mining and construction sites by implementing safety programs, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with MSHA regulations.

This role is critical in fostering a culture of safety and minimizing risks to personnel and operations.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Safety Program Implementation : Develop, implement, and monitor safety programs and policies in accordance with MSHA regulations and company standards.
  • Site Inspections : Conduct regular safety inspections of job sites to identify hazards, ensure compliance, and recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Training : Provide training and guidance to employees on safety practices, hazard recognition, and emergency response procedures.

Maintain records of training activities.

  • Incident Investigation : Investigate accidents and near misses, documenting findings and recommending improvements to prevent future incidents.
  • Compliance Monitoring : Ensure that all operations comply with MSHA regulations and company safety policies, keeping up to date with changes in regulations.
  • Safety Audits : Perform safety audits and risk assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Communication : Serve as a liaison between management and field personnel regarding safety issues, promoting a culture of safety and awareness.
  • Reporting : Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, and training, preparing reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Emergency Preparedness : Develop and implement emergency response plans, ensuring all personnel are familiar with procedures and evacuation routes.

Qualifications :

  • Education : High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in occupational safety and health or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience : Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety role within the mining or heavy construction industry, with a focus on MSHA regulations.
  • Certification : Valid MSHA certification is required; additional safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, First Aid / CPR) are a plus.
  • Knowledge : Strong understanding of safety regulations, hazard identification, and risk management practices.
  • Skills : Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Attention to Detail : Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess risks and develop effective solutions.
  • Physical Requirements : Ability to work in various weather conditions and navigate construction and mining sites.
