About the Role

Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Key Account Manager interested in further developing and driving the sales of our natural health actives into the dietary supplements, functional foods and beverages, and sports nutrition markets.

This position will be responsible for maintaining and growing existing account relationships as well as identifying and developing new business opportunities to support our growth objectives.

This includes revenue & GM management, cross-team collaboration, and project management. This role will primarily cover states in the West Coast of the US and may also cover a couple of the Mountain states.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain and Drive Sales and Gross Profit at defined accounts within the Sales Territory to achieve and exceed annual sales and profitability budgets.
  • Ensure all financial and supply chain metrics are maintained and improved. (Including but not limited to inventory levels, trading terms, incentive schemes, lead times, risk management, etc.)
  • Maintain a high degree of direct call frequency in order to build multi-level relationships and strong customer intimacy.
  • Bring in Senior Management as required and map and articulate various decision matrices with the organization (both local and internationally as appropriate).
  • Develops hands-on application knowledge of Division’s products, key technologies and competencies and actively seeks and articulates ways in which to successfully and sustainable position our products within the customers brand and product portfolio.
  • Develop winning sales strategies and account plans aligned with the overall company plans and the major brands / categories needs of the customer.

Identify and exploit new business opportunities including disruptive ideas and approaches which increases the pace of growth and profitability and builds competitive barriers to entry.

Build internal support to the overall objectives of the major customers / territory and negotiate / motivate and enroll internal Symrise personnel behind these strategies.

Responsible for priority setting and acts as a facilitator between Symrise functions and as required.

Responsible for the timely completion of all required reports, including but not limited to expense reports, quarterly reports, budgets, monthly, quarterly and annual forecasts, new business models and investment decisions, etc.

About You

Knowledge and Experience Requirements :

  • BS in Chemistry, Food Science or related field or BA in business, MBA a plus
  • 5-7 years of experience in selling actives to the dietary supplement industry.
  • 3+ years of technical / scientific sales experience.
  • Experience with Ingredient / Flavors sales within the Consumer Health segment is a plus.

Skills & Abilities :

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Solid project management skills. Must be able to prioritize, plan, organize and follow through on projects.
  • Strong leadership skills. Able to motivate and enroll people that are not his or her direct reports.
  • Able to adapt to different cultural situations and link with key customer contacts at all levels to ensure timely, accurate information flow within Symrise.
  • Consistently displaying a high degree of energy and entrepreneurial drive across a range of subjects and disciplines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
  • Proficiency with SAP is desired.
  • Know the operational techniques and requirements of Operations, Marketing, Finance and Technical Services departments in the Division and establish an effective working relationship with each.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to travel domestically by land and air about 60% of the time.
  • Must live in the West Coast within the covered territory. Applicants living in Utah or Southern California will be prioritized.
