Our Alternative Markets division is currently searching for a Data Specialist to support our program business.
Responsibilities :
- Prepares moderately complex financial and business related analysis and reporting. Defines business and legal reporting requirements through research, interpretation of regulations, and business unit requests to meet customer needs.
- Collects and analyzes data for validity and accuracy in preparation of assigned reports.
- Develops and maintains department databases and assesses quality of data used in moderately complex reports.
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of data sources content and structure to assess the quality of data.
- Identifies and makes recommendations for resolution of identified issues in data and reporting quality.
- Utilizes department / company software to prepare moderately complex data queries.
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of industry and company products / coverages and applies that knowledge to support business activity.
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of relevant resource materials and manuals may include : statistical manuals, statistical plans, coding guides, claims, underwriting, and premium audit files.
- Provides technical advice to lower level associates and other functional areas.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science or related discipline OR equivalent experience
- 4 or more years of related experience.
- Proficiency in relational database tools (i.e., SQL, Cognos, etc.).
- Proficiency in TOAD or similar query and reporting tool.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products especially Excel.
- Successful candidate should be able to create ad hoc reports including join queries, create prompts, charts, etc.
- Previous experience in the insurance industry preferred.
