The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) works in collaboration with Staff Development, Patient Satisfaction, Infection Control, Quality Management.
The CNE has job responsibilities in both Perth and Old Bridge Divisions and would have the capability of flexing into the numbers as staff in either Division when required.
The CNE would be responsible for covering all shifts in both divisions. The CNE would ensure adherence to established policies, protocols, regulations, standards and be a Role Model Magnet Champion.
A day in the life of a Clinical Nurse Educator at Hackensack Meridian Health includes :
- Collaborate with other health care professionals and service providers to ensure optimal patient care.
- Coordinate or conduct educational programs or in-service training sessions on topics such as clinical procedures.
- Work in collaboration with staff development to ensure transformational requirements
- Develop nursing service philosophies, goals, policies, priorities, or procedures.
- Develop or assist others in development of care and treatment plans.
- Develop, implement, or evaluate standards of nursing practice in specialty areas such as pediatrics, acute care, trauma, and geriatrics.
- Identify training needs or conduct training sessions.
- Instruct nursing staff in areas such as the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of disability, illness, management, technology, resources, etc.
- Maintain departmental policies, procedures, objectives, or infection control standards.
- Monitor or evaluate medical conditions of patients in collaboration with other health care professionals.
- Participate in Magnet as a Magnet Champion to promote / educate Magnet Philosophy
- Observe, interview, and assess patients to identify care needs.
- Participate in clinical research projects such as by reviewing protocols, reviewing patient records, monitoring compliance, and meeting with regulatory authorities.
- Plan, evaluate, or modify treatment programs based on information gathered by observing and interviewing patients, or by analyzing patient records.
- Prepare reports for patient throughput and establish clear guidelines for CMS outcomes.
- Ensure, track, document and organize credentials / certifications for all Nursing Staff.
- Read current literature, talk with colleagues, or participate in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in nursing.
- Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice or organizational systems.
- Assist in discharge planning for Treat and release Patients.
- Direct or supervise nursing care staff in the provision of patient specialized therapy.
- Regularly attends and participates in department staff meetings. Reviews and signs off on minutes for any meeting not attended.
- Serves as a mentor / resource to new staff and / or students and willingly shares knowledge and skills with other team members.
- Serves on committees as assigned.
- Other duties and / or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Education, Licensures, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required :
- NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required;
