Estimator

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator for Structural Steel Projects to produce cost estimates and proposals for bid projects, as well as cost estimates for change orders on awarded projects.

The ideal candidate will assist in developing and implementing material and labor take-offs from structural and architectural design drawings, manage projects under supervision, and support the estimating team.

Key Responsibilities :

• Produce cost estimates and proposals for structural steel bid projects and change orders.
• Assist in developing and implementing a plan for material and labor take-offs from design drawings.
• Support complex projects as part of the estimating team.
• Review, verify, and distribute project drawings and specifications to estimators.
• Maintain and manage subcontractor / supplier relationships.
• Obtain pricing for specialty items not in the estimating software database.
• Generate estimate summaries and cost recap sheets in Excel.
• Assist in developing preliminary connection designs based on member capacities and loads.
• Collaborate with the Production Department to review and update estimating standards.
• Work overtime when required to meet bid deadlines.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of related experience in the steel industry.
• Familiarity with steel fabrication processes, welding, and constructability.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex design documents and specifications.
• Strong time management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and preliminary connection design.

Requirements
